It never takes long to get to Chamrousse. And when you get there, just one look at the valley and you forget the 3 1/2 hours by TGV (high-speed-train) from Paris, the hour´s drive from Lyon or Valence, the quick motorway trip from Chambery and even the few kilometers of one of the two roads out from Grenoble.
